Puzzle 1:

It may be surprising to know that that there are an infinity of solutions to this. The key to solving it is choosing a Y such that XY and YZ are simplified. An obvious choice would be Y = 1, in which case the equation becomes X + 1 = ZX. Now you can choose an arbitrary X, and Z is the Xth root of X + 1.


Puzzle 2:

Simple question, simple answer. The 6 points are the vertices of a regular pentagon and its center.
